To commemorate the struggles of women’s rights throughout history, today we celebrate all the achievements and barrier we’ve broken down thus far globally with empowering women this International Women’s Day. Women have been resilient throughout the years of social, political and economic isolation. “UN Women reports that “in 22 out of 34 countries with data, women are more likely than men to be in low-paid jobs.” Worldwide, women earn 24 percent less than men overall. The World Economic Forum projects that at current rates of progress, it will take 170 years to close the gap. That’s 170 years too long, and at least as many years too late.” (Sourced: The Huffington Post) When we lift our voices to be heard, and to fight for equality; we’re not only empowering women, we are paving the way for our future generation of girls.
There are many inspirational women visionaries and leaders who work tirelessly to create a community and a world for women to overcome societal barriers. Here are a few inspirational words from women visionaries that continue to press issues on women’s rights and empower young girls to know their worth. Happy International Women’s Day.
